Word of God Ministries, Inc. is a Bible-based, multi-ethnic, Christ-centered Ministry based in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Our objective is to minister the Word of God and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the manifested Word of God, God's only begotten Son, the Anointed One. We are a Gospel Ministry that preaches the power of salvation: eternal redemption, deliverance, healing, success in life and victory by faith - through Jesus, the Manifested Word of God!

"Ministering the Word" is an out-reach of Word of God Ministries.  It is the heart and foundation of the work.  This out-reach potentially reaches millions with the Word of God through the avenues of radio, television, literature, media recordings and assemblies. In addition to our weekly services in Shreveport, Louisiana, we hold Bible Conferences in Houston and in Dallas, Texas. We are celebrating our fourteenth year in out-reach and looking forward to expanding and increasing our efforts in "Ministering the Word" of God!

Our Pastor, James A. McMenis, began this ministry as a weekly Bible study at age 22 on September 1, 1994.  Since that time, the work has become a national out-reach.  Through television, radio, Bible conferences, crusades and the local assembly, Pastor McMenis, Word of God Ministries and its' Word Partners are carrying out the vision of "Ministering the Word". As a Pastor and Evangelist, James McMenis has dedicated his life to winning the lost to Jesus and making disciples of the saved (John 8:30-32).  Through the anointing of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, Pastor McMenis expounds on the Word of God bringing clarity and making God's Word applicable to the hearer.

Our History

On September 1, 1994, Word of God Ministries held its premier meeting at the Ramada Inn in Shreveport, Louisiana with just a few supporters.  Ten months later the ministry moved to a leased church facility at 127 Flournoy Lucas Road where it would unexpectedly remain for one short year.  The church facility was sold to another organization and Word of God Ministries was forced to vacate and find a new place to assemble, which would be the University Center on the LSU Campus in Shreveport.

God used this move to redirect Pastor McMenis and the ministry into an extensive radio out-reach.  The ministry launched a daily program in Dallas, Texas on the second largest Gospel Station in the U.S.  The ministry grew rapidly through tape and radio ministries, spreading through Dallas and into Houston, Texas.  With such a demand on God’s Word, Pastor McMenis began to hold weekly meetings in Houston, Texas and monthly meetings in Dallas, Texas.

God began to build a platform of support for the ministry that would reach far beyond the boundaries of the local assembly in Shreveport, LA.  From a small assembly at LSUS, with a ministry office located in Pastor McMenis’ home, the ministry became a national out-reach.  Through radio and television broadcasts, book and tape ministries, the Internet, crusades and Bible conferences, along with the local assembly, James McMenis and Word of God Ministries began carrying out the vision of “Ministering the Word”.

With a need of its own permanent location, Word of God Ministries closed a land deal on March 15, 2000 for 8 acres of prime property at 5895 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.  Blue Prints were drawn and part of the land was cleared for a Building Program that would become the next focus for the ministry

In January 2001, Word of God Ministries moved to 6056 Greenwood Road which was previously the location of Hosanna Worship & Restoration.  Hosanna closed its doors in December 2000 and a deal was made to obtain their furnishings and pick up their lease.  Finally, the ministry began to receive some local exposure after 5 years of assembling at LSUS. Once again, this facility was sold and the new owner required immediate occupancy. Pastor McMenis took this as a direction that it was time to rise and build. Within two weeks construction began on Phase I of the Building Program. While under construction, the ministry leased what was once the "Dollar Tree" at South Park Mall. The ministry turned the "Dollar Tree" into the Tree of Life! A few months later the ministry moved into its "own" facility! To God be the Glory!

Rapid growth began to develop while assembling at the Mall and truly began to escalate once the ministry moved into its new facility on August 8, 2002. Within one year the ministry was holding three Sunday Services to accommodate the growing numbers and within two years the ministry broke ground on Phase 2 which was an addition of nearly four times the size of Phase 1. We held our premier services in Phase 2 on November 14, 2004. Ten months later we were back holding three services per Sunday (two Morning Services) to accommodate the increase.

In September 2005 the ministry began airing a weekly television broadcast. Much of the ministry's growth has been witnessed since that time. The ministry is currently viewed each Sunday on two local television stations - KSLA-TV 12 and KSHV-TV 45. Our vision in the coming year is to increase in our television outreach. We have heard from countless people who have given there lives to Christ as a result of the television ministry.

On February 2, 2008, we completed construction of Phase 3 which included a new Activities Center and the renovation of our sanctuary. This has given our Children's Ministry needed space and more than doubled our seating capacity.

God has truly endorsed this ministry.  Word of God Ministries has established assemblies in three cities: Shreveport, LA, Dallas and Houston, Texas. The ministry has partners all over the U.S. and receives response from literally all over the world.

Our vision

On June 23, 2009, Word of God Ministries closed on a land-deal and purchased 142.7 acres of property at the corner of Bert Kouns and Buncombe Road 1.5 miles west of our current location at 5895 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. This will be the future home of Word of God Ministries! The theme for the Building Program is “RISE AND BUILD”, taken from Nehemiah 2:20, “The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build.” We invite you to join with us in the vision of "Preaching Jesus as the Manifested Word of God!"   (Elevations of future Dome and Phase 1 to be built on new site) This is the LORD's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes" (Psalms 118:23).
